Day 30: Pretty Cake

Day 31: Me

Day 32: Drink

Day 33: So Colourful

Day 34: Car

Day 35: Texture

Watching..Black Sails has finally started up again with their third season. I can finally get my pirate fix! They've introduced Edward Teach (Blackbead!) this season and I can't wait to see what they do with this character.

Baking...  Apple Roses! I found this recipe on Pinterest awhile ago and my friends birthday was the perfect excuse to try them out.

Drinking... Mojitos! The perfect summer drink. I've been playing it healthy and holding out on the rum though...

Waiting... For Summer to be over! Perth is apparently staring a run of 40°C days. It's not my idea of fun.

Buying... Birthday presents. I have a whole bunch of birthdays coming of people who I am quite close to. This year I'm planning ahead to try and find the perfect present for each individual. Does anyone have any suggestions?

2016 ~ Week Four

Day 22: Night

Day 23: Play

Day 24: Sneaky Treat

Day 25: Numbers

Day 26: Australia Day

Day 27: Simplicity

Day 28: Smile

Trying...  To make some good habits! I'm trying to get myself into a healthier way of thinking. This means aying attention to what I'm actually eating and pushing myself to workout more.

Making...  Plans to go to Bali! Flights and accommodation have been booked, now it's just figuring out what we actually want to see and do.

Wishing...  It was pay day. This day does not seem to come around enough.

Seeing...  Perth Fringe Festival shows. I love this time of year when the city just seem to come alive with people and events. I've just seen two Fringe Festival sows and I'm definitely wanting to see more!

Thinking...  About the future. What exactly is my superannuation? How much should I be trying to put away? How can I do that and save money at the same time? Being an adult is hard...

Day 15: Mail

Day 16: Quotes

Day 17: Birthday

Day 18: White

Day 19: In the hand

Day 20: Patterns

Day 21: Morning

Eating... You know how you can make mugcakes? Well I decided to make a mugcookie using this recipe. It took me less than five minutes and it was delicious! Next time I make one though I will definitely be sharing, it was a bit of a sugar overload!

Waiting... For Australia Day! Not only is it a public holiday but it is the day that the BF flies back home (FIFO life, aye). 3 days left...

Enjoying... House sitting! It's nice to have a whole house to yourself for a week. No one to judge when you're feeling too lazy to make dinner, so you have cheese and crackers and the chance to be as loud as I want in the mornings. Bliss!

Wearing... I took advantage of Modcloth's recent sale and I bought some new dresses! These are the ones here, here and here. They're a little different to what I usually wear but it always fun to try on something new!

Trying... New recipes! My Pinterest addiction has inspired me to try some new recipes but... they haven't always worked. Some have just not worked and others have just tasted plain weird.

2016 ~ Week Two

Day 8: Landscape

Day 9: Shoes

Day 10: Lucky

Day 11: Dessert

Day 12: Today I Wore

Day 13: Three of a Kind

Day 14: Close Up

Watching...  The Shannara Chronicles. This new TV series is based on the high fantasy Shannara series written by Terry Brooks. I'm four episode in and I'm already addicted! It's been described as Tolkien meets George Lucas and I think that is a pretty good description of what you can expect. The Shannara Chronicles follow a group of hero's on their quest to prevent the Ellcrys tree from dying, thus unleashing and army of demons and causing the end of the world.

Reading...  Lady of No Man's Land by Jeanne Williams. Kirsten is Swedish immigrant intent on running her own homestead and this book follows her on her journey exploring the wild plains and saving enough money to build a home. Combining the western and romance genres this book is definitely a guilty pleasure!

Playing...  Munchkin! This card game spoofs major role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons and is absolute hilarious with item cards like 'Knee Pads of Allure' and 'Rat on a Stick. I was given an expansion pack for Christmas, so it's been one of my go to games this month

Waiting...  On packages! I've ordered a few things online and I'm desperately waiting for them to arrive.

Doing... Through Open Universities Australia, I have just started my first free online course. The one I'm doing is called Becoming Human: Anthropology (BeHuman) and runs for about a month. It focuses on evolution, including how we evolved from primates and became human. Hopefully I'll be able to stick with it!

2016 ~ Week One

Day 1: Black and White

Day 2: What I Did Today

Day 3: Water

Day 4: Circle

Day 5: Leaves

Day 6: Something Blue

Day 7: Reading

Watching...  Legends of Tomorrow will be starting up soon and to understand the characters better I've decided to start watching Arrow. I know I'm a little late to the party with this one but I'm slowly catching up!

Reading...  I've only just started this book and I'm really enjoying it so far! Perfected by Kate Jarvik Birch is about a future where the government has passed legislation allowing genetically engineered humans to be kept as pets. It's an interesting concept and the story reminds me of The Jewel by Amy Ewing, another YA book I read recently.

Playing...  I've been playing Fallout 4 for a while now and I'm getting to the point where I need to choose which faction I should support for the main story line quest. The Minute Men, Brotherhood of Steel, The Railroad or The Institute! I've been putting it off for a while by focusing on side quests but I'm itching to find out how the story ends.

Thinking...  A couple of my friends have just moved houses and that has definitely got me thinking about my own dream house. I've been spending way too much time on Pinterest and finding ideas for what I could do with my future home.

Feeling...   Ready for a holiday! It's only been a week since the Christmas/New Years break but I still haven't got into the swing of things. I'm really missing all that free time.

Motivation vs Commitment

Sunset at Scarborough Beach AKA Cliche Motivation Sunset picture

Motivation is a temporary emotion.

It is the unreliable lover that will woo with it's charm, make your heart sing for a while and then kick you in the balls when you are not looking. No goodbye. No phone call. No explanation. Which is why motivation (on it's own) rarely leads to any kind of lasting positive transformation.

Commitment on the other hand, is a non-negotiable mindset. It is absolute. It is a force. Unwavering. Constant. Powerful. Unlike motivation, it's not a day to day proposition; it's your default setting, it's not a sometime emotion, but rather an all-the-time habit.

Committed people make things happen, even in the absence of motivation

Some inspiration for your Monday!

I wish I knew where this quote came from. It's something that I have had pinned up in my room for quite a while.

I keep it up to remind me that having all these ideas and plans is great but unless I commit to seeing them through, they become empty words and a waste of time.

Writing the list

One of the reasons why I decided to start this blog was to help document my progress in completing the '101 things in 1001 days' challenge.

I decided to start this challenge because there are so many things that I want to achieve that end up being pushed to the side with the thought of "I'll get around to that one day" or "I can't do that".

I hope that by setting these goals that I'll be able to to make real progress on doing all these things that I've been thinking about for years and maybe I'll even learn something about myself.

You can find my list here.
